Baader Planetarium Astro Conversion Filter for Canon DSLR Cameras - 40D/ 400D or Later Models

This Baader Planetarium DSLR conversion filter will modify your Canon DSLR camera into a serious deep sky imager for astrophotography. It does this by replacing the DSLR's factory standard "hot mirror" correcting filter. The special substrate features Baader's esteemed coatings. Not only is full efficiency achievable at H-Alpha wavelengths, since this DSLR conversion filter removes the Canon factory moire filter which reduces resolution on astronomical targets, imagers can achieve full efficiency at full resolution as well. Futhermore, Baader DSLR filter thickness has been made to preserve the correct factory focal point. (Please note: the Baader filter has been made of a different thickness than the factory filter on purpose. This is necessary in order to equal the effective index of refraction of the factory "sandwich" filter.)

DSLR Conversion Filters are designed to the identical specifications and by the same procedures that are employed for all other premium Baader Astronomical Filters. All individual filters are optically polished to 1/4 wave, while, more significantly, the ion beam hardened coatings are applied only once cutting and polishing is completed. This critical feature assures your coatings will not peel or deteriorate from softer coatings and edge damage suffered due to post-cutting applications used by cheaper filters. With Baader filters, there's no need to be concerned that your internal DSLR conversion filter will fail unexpectedly.

This filter is meant to be used by amateurs who are comfortable swapping out their camera's standard filter. As it has no pinkish side, this FBCF-400D filter does not require any distinct orientation.
